This Saturday, We Celebrate De Vechtclub
We have been training for almost three months, but this Saturday we make it official: we are celebrating the opening of De Vechtclub. And the end of the renovation. Around seventy jobs later, the hexagons glow above a club we can be proud of.
To the Construction Ghosts of Achtergracht, Jens and Lucas 👻, Nora, who transformed the attic, and all the lovely members who helped paint, hang bags, recruit members, and so much more: thank you. As coaches, we teach the classes, but we build the club together.
Saturday, October 31: open house and barefoot happy hour
Free classes for all of Weesp, ages 6 to 99, at 9:00, 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00 and 14:00. Young and old train together, and every class starts with the basics. The regular Saturday classes are canceled that day.
Are you a member? Feel free to sign up, we will definitely work up a sweat. Preferably choose a class with fewer members registered, so we can spread out the experienced fighters. And please bring someone who does not know us yet: they can sign up through the open house or our WhatsApp. You can also just walk in, but there is a chance we will be full.
From 16:00 to 18:00, the gloves come off and the music goes on. We will have drinks and snacks that other gyms would ban (we will work them off on Monday), tall tales, and terrible dance moves for anyone brave enough. Family and friends are welcome, even if they do not train. Oh, and it is Halloween too. Costumes are welcome, but not required. 🎃
New merch drop!
The classy bag. Deep black, white, and hot pink. Have you brought in a new member since August 1, or is someone about to join because of you? Then there is a bag for you, while supplies last. WhatsApp us their name. If we have any bags left, we will sell them for €25.
The RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE hoodie. Yes, €69. But you do get the same premium hoodie as our founding members, with logos on the chest and back, and they call it the comfiest hoodie they own. This hoodie is members-only. It costs us around €54 to make; we are using the remaining €15 from this batch to give our coaches a hoodie.
We will place the order once we have enough signups. WhatsApp us your size. Tip: we still have a few founding member hoodies around, same brand and style. Ask Remy or Kev if you can try one on before class, or ask a founding member, so you know your size for sure.
For the kids: on the road to Tag Day
We are working on colored club tags, so kids can show what they have learned. Technique is not the only thing that counts. Control, listening, and teamwork matter too.
About twice a year, we will hold a Tag Day. Your coach will invite you when your child is ready for the next step. Everyone moves at their own pace. The first prototype tags have been ordered, and we have an internal list of 21 skills kids can be tested on. More details once everything is ready.
Personal training for two
Most gyms charge extra for every additional person. For now, we offer 2 for the price of 1: share a €75 session with a friend, your partner, or another member, and you each pay €37,50. This also applies to the 10-session pass.
Boxing with Parkinson's is growing
Several people with Parkinson's now train with us, each one-on-one with Cedric. We are already thinking about a regular time when they can train alongside each other. Know someone who might benefit? This page explains how it works.
Still on a membership from before De Vechtclub?
Many of you were already training here when the club was still called TKS, and we are so glad you stayed. We are doing everything we can to make the club stronger. But those old memberships are still running, and they are not memberships a gym can survive on.
Switch to a De Vechtclub membership, and you give us a pat on the back for everything we have added since the summer. You also help make the club financially healthy, so we can enjoy it together for at least another ten years. You help the coaches too. Our promise: as soon as we stop losing money, we will pay them better first, and only then pay ourselves more.

Money should never get in the way of sports. That is why we are working to join Stadspas and Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur. It is not finalized yet. Is this already important for you or your child? WhatsApp us, and we will keep you personally updated.
Messaging works better than calling
Besides running the club, Remy and Kev both have office jobs. De Vechtclub is our passion, not yet our income. That means we cannot always answer the phone during the day. Messaging works best: we usually reply within a day, and it fits better with our other work. Thanks for understanding!
From 4.1 to 4.9 stars
The club came with a Google page too, including a 4.1 rating and a few painful reviews from the previous club's days. At the end of September, we finally managed to transfer that page to De Vechtclub. The logo above the front door sealed the deal. Then we asked you to leave some love, a few former members updated their old reviews, and some of you reported a review that was not about us. We are now at 4.9. Thank you!
