Kickboks Techniek
We punch, knee, and kick each other's gloves and guard.
What do we do?
You learn how to attack and defend, step by step. There is always time to spar in these classes, but sparring comes with risks, so it is never mandatory. The trainer always gives you a choice: group A spars, group B practices a combination. "Meet here if you want to spar, and over there if you want to practice the combination." That way, everyone can do something they feel comfortable with.
We practice in pairs, working on each other's gloves and guard, and using kick pads. You work on combinations, timing, and distance: what changes when your partner moves or counters? There is more room for explanation and taking it slow than during bag work. You often burn a little less, but your brain may be working overtime.
Do I need experience?
All levels are welcome. We do recommend taking about twenty kickboxing bag work classes first, either here or somewhere else along the way. That way, you already know the basic punches and kicks. The trainer adapts the exercises and pairings to your experience and build.
Working calmly and with control is part of it. You are training with someone, so you help each other improve. Your partner only turns up the pressure when you say, "You can go harder." Speak up, and do not be afraid to say, "A little lighter" or "Even lighter." That keeps it fun for everyone. Tell the trainer if someone is not listening closely enough.
Never kickboxed before? Start with our three(!) free trial classes on the bag. You will learn the basics and find out if it is right for you. Kickboks Zaktraining is a great place to start. Use the form below, and we will plan your first class together.
What about sparring and gear?
If you want to spar, you do so lightly and under supervision. As mentioned, every technique class includes time for sparring, and taking part is always optional. You may also join the sparring group, but the trainer might decide you are not ready yet. In that case, you continue practicing the combinations with the other group.
Bring your own mouthguard for sparring and, if relevant for you, a cup. We obviously do not lend out mouthguards or cups. We do provide gloves and shin guards.
